Program Overview: Flexible Online Basic Sciences
At McGill School of Medicine, we recognize that aspiring physicians often balance education with work, family, and financial responsibilities. That is why the first two years of our MD program—the foundational basic sciences—are offered fully online. This unique structure allows students to complete essential coursework in subjects such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, and biochemistry from their own homes, without the need to relocate to the Caribbean as required by many other international medical schools.
Our online platform is designed to provide the same academic rigor as traditional classroom learning, with interactive lectures, small group discussions, and direct access to faculty mentors. Students benefit from the flexibility to continue working or fulfilling personal commitments while progressing through their medical education.
By reducing the need for relocation during the pre-clinical years, our program minimizes financial and logistical barriers, making the pursuit of a medical career more accessible. Once students complete the online basic sciences, they transition to hands-on clinical training at one of our ECFMG-accredited partner institutions, ensuring both a solid academic foundation and internationally recognized clinical experience.

Clinical Training Transfer
Upon completion of the online pre-clinical curriculum, students transfer to one of our ECFMG-accredited partner universities for hands-on clinical training. During these years, students gain direct patient care experience in hospitals and clinics, integrating the knowledge and skills developed during the online basic science program with real-world medical practice. This pathway allows students to complete rigorous pre-clinical training remotely while maintaining flexibility for work or personal commitments, before transitioning to immersive, internationally recognized clinical rotations.
